At torvet after the parade
Speech of the day by Kristin Amanda Homme Gabrielsen. Awarding of prizes for best performances
during children’s parade and citizens’ parade sponsored by Sparebanken Sør and Igland Garasjen.
Concert with Erlend Gunstveit.
The program is as follows:
- National anthem “Ja, vi elsker” (3 stanzas)
- Honour to the King: “De leve!” ("Hipp-hipp-hipp, hurra-hurra-hurra"), 3 times
- Kongesangen ("God save the king"), 1 stanza “Gud signe vår konge god”
- Speech
- Fedrelandssalmen “Gud signe vårt dyre fedreland” (2 stanzas)
- Awarding of prizes for the best performance during children’s parade and citizens’ parade
- Musical or cultural performance
Additional information
When the parades march in the streets, those will be closed by big vehicles for security reasons. Opplandsveien/Storgaten is closed at Fokussenter immediately before the children’s parade at 09.30 and the citizen’s parade at 17.00. Smith Petersens gate is closed right before the parades reach the traffic light where Storgaten crosses.
After the children’s parade there will be local events at different schools where you can buy cake, sausages and ice cream. There might also be music performances and different activities and lotteries where children can win prizes. Those events are organized by school classes or clubs, and the revenue goes to them. They are not part of the official 17. May program.
After the high school graduates’ parade there will be an event at Torvet where, among other things, the graduates’ presidents from Dahlske and Drottningborg will hold speeches.
After the citizen’s parade there will be an event at Torvet. An exact time is difficult to predict as it depends on the number of people participating in the parade. It usually takes about one hour.
The concert at Bietorvet by Grimstad Musikkorps at 16.00 is free of charge.
